Principal Dancer Emerita of the Ballet Nacional de España, she has performed leading roles in some of the company’s most celebrated works, including the masterpiece Medea. She has also been invited to work as a principal dancer and choreographer with various companies across Spain.
Internationally, since 2002 she has restaged major works from the Ballet Nacional de España repertoire and has developed an extensive teaching career, delivering courses and masterclasses throughout her professional life.
Awarded the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts in 2021, she also gives her name to the “Maribel Gallardo” Professional Dance Conservatoire in Cádiz. She currently continues her work as a rehearsal coach with the Ballet Nacional de España.
