Master of masters. Former dancer, teacher, and director, she is one of the most influential figures in dance in Spain, with an outstanding international career as a soloist with companies such as Maurice Béjart’s Ballet of the Twentieth Century. After retiring from the stage at an early age, she developed a remarkable pedagogical career, training some of the greatest figures in dance. She has served as deputy director of the National Classical Ballet and director of the National School of Classical Dance. She is the founder of the International Dance Center of Madrid, the Carmen Roche Foundation, and the SCAENA center. Her career has been recognized with the Medal of Artistic Excellence from the Government of Nicaragua (2009), the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts (2012), the Actúa Award (2021), and honorary membership of the Academy of Performing Arts (2022).
